Nuremberg has a population of about 500,000, making it the second-largest city in Bavaria. The broader Nuremberg region has a population of 3.5 million and is one of the 10 largest business centers in Europe, home to 168,000 companies.

Nuremberg’s geographic location makes it the logistics capital of Southern Germany. The city stands at the junction of several key highways and rail lines, connecting Northern to Southern Germany and Germany to Eastern European countries. The Freight Traffic Center (GVZ) at Nuremberg’s 337-hectare port on the Main Danube Canal is the biggest multifunction freight transport center in Southern Germany and an important industrial property and distribution hub for the region. It is home to more than 260 companies, which combined employ 5,500 workers, and handles more than 15 million tons of freight annually through a substantial network of warehouses.

More than 107,000 people work in the Nuremberg region’s logistics sector, making it one of the country’s top five logistics locations.
