Prologis and Clean Power Alliance Partner to Expand Access to Reliable Renewable Energy

Published on

As energy demand grows and grid constraints intensify, Prologis is scaling its community solar program to help deliver renewable energy where it's needed most.

Prologis deployed more than 9 MW of rooftop solar across 10 of its Southern California logistics facilities through Clean Power Alliance (CPA)’s Power Share program. The program transforms warehouse rooftops into distributed energy infrastructure that supplies renewable electricity to the local grid while helping income-qualified households save on energy costs.

The partnership demonstrates how distributed energy infrastructure embedded within logistics real estate can strengthen grid resilience, provide renewable power to households that otherwise might not have access and create long-term community value.

The partnership with Prologis is ideal for us because they not only own the roof, but they also have a lot of energy expertise. One of the barriers is that the people who own the roof aren’t also the people who know energy. Prologis brings them both together, and that makes them an ideal partner for us.

Delivering power where communities need it most

Across California, access to reliable power has become increasingly important for economic growth and community resilience. Prologis Energy Solutions helps address these challenges by delivering reliable, distributed energy directly to our customers in communities where we operate.

The CPA partnership reflects that broader strategy in action.

Prologis leverages its logistics footprint to deploy distributed solar infrastructure near population centers and constrained grid regions. The systems generate electricity close to demand centers, helping strengthen local grid reliability while expanding renewable energy access to underserved communities.

Delivering measurable community and grid benefits

The first phase of the initiative included five rooftop solar projects capable of generating more than 5 MW of renewable energy. Additional projects later expanded the portfolio to 10 total installations producing more than 9 MW across the region.

Prologis and CPA Community Solar Program impact:

  • 9.4 MW total solar capacity
  • 4,600+ residential customers served
  • 20% electricity bill savings to income-qualified households
  • >15,000 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions avoided each year
  • ~100 construction jobs created

We’re talking about local labor building local community, improved air quality, lower utility bills and local economic gains. It’s kind of a triple win.

A scalable model for community energy access

The partnership illustrates a core Prologis Energy Solutions principle: Industrial real estate is evolving into a distributed energy network that supports both the businesses leasing space, and the local grids.

Because Prologis controls the real estate, maintains long-term customer relationships and operates at scale, we can deploy distributed energy infrastructure more quickly and efficiently than others.

This integrated approach enables Prologis Energy Solutions to develop replicable, scalable models that support customer operations and local communities over the long term.

For Prologis, projects like these represent a broader effort to embed reliable, distributed energy directly into the built environment, strengthening communities, supporting grid resiliency and helping power the modern economy.
