3600 Alameda

Development Overview

As a long-time member of the Oakland business community and current owner of the site, Prologis is redeveloping the former Owens-Illinois glass factory at 3600 Alameda to address historical environmental conditions and restore the site. The redevelopment supports local jobs and economic activity in Oakland and includes enhancements to the Bay Trail and nearby infrastructure.

Environmental Remediation & Safety Measures

Environmental remediation at the site is focused on materials associated with historic industrial use, including PCBs, lead, asbestos, and other metals found in soil and building materials. Remediation activities are overseen by multiple local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.

To protect the surrounding community, the project includes:

  • Continuous air monitoring during hardscape demolition, crushing operations, grading, and environmental remediation activities
  • Dust, noise, and stormwater controls
  • Independent health risk assessment
  • 24/7 site security and controlled access

Redevelopment Schedule

Prologis completed abatement and demolition of all aboveground buildings at the site in October 2025. The site is currently in a shutdown and stabilization phase while regulatory agencies review and approve plans for the next phase of work.
