Prologis Selected as 2021 Green Lease Leader

Prologis has once again been named a 2021 Green Lease Leader – Gold Level by the Institute for Market Transformation (IMT) and the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Better Buildings Alliance. This honor recognizes landlords and tenants who modernize their leases to spur collaborative action on energy efficiency, cost-savings, air quality and sustainability in buildings.

Prologis earned Gold-Level recognition for its energy efficiency and sustainability best practices such as the customer-centric solutions offered through the Prologis Essentials marketplace, including LED lighting and solar energy, as well as for collaborating with customers to gather and report utility data to improve customers’ operational efficiency in our facilities.

“This Gold-Level recognition reflects our deep engagement with our customers to deliver best-in-class energy-efficient and sustainable solutions. Together with our modern, resilient buildings, the green lease standards across our portfolio support our strategy of driving positive environmental and business outcomes for our customers and key stakeholders,” said Ying Yu, Prologis' senior vice president of ESG.

Prologis is proud to be part of the national trend toward green leases in commercial spaces. This year’s Green Lease Leaders represent portfolios totaling more than two billion square feet and comprise a diverse range of buildings from large and small commercial offices to industrial buildings and data centers.

Altogether, Green Lease Leaders manage over four billion square feet of commercial and government space, representing a huge potential for growth in green leases. IMT estimates that green leases can help reduce utility bills by up to about 50 cents per square foot (22 percent) in U.S. office buildings alone, and if all leased office buildings executed green leases, the market could reap over $3 billion in annual cost savings.
