On February 13, at the 7th Annual Best of the Bay Awards, NAOIP San Francisco Bay Area honored Prologis with its first Diversity Champion of the Year award for the company’s extensive diversity outreach efforts. The award recognized Prologis for its many positive contributions to promoting diversity in commercial real estate.

Prologis managing director Gayle Starr, who actively works to advance women in real estate, accepted the award on Prologis’ behalf at a ceremony at the Four Seasons hotel in San Francisco. According to Gayle, Prologis came to mind for NAIOP both for the scholarships the company sponsors as well as its efforts to mentor young women into a career in real estate.

Scholarships

The NAIOP and Prologis Inclusion in CRE Scholarship for Women and Underrepresented Professionals is helping prepare these groups for development and operations positions in commercial real estate. Prologis has also been a sponsor and supporter of ULI’s Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) since 2014 and awards scholarships to women members to participate in the annual fall meeting and network with senior real estate professionals.

Outreach

Prologis has been successfully working to capture the interest of female college students who might not be aware of the potential for a career in commercial real estate. Many women who work at Prologis visit their alma maters regularly for recruiting and networking events. Some have even expanded their outreach efforts to nearby universities to mentor young talent and build enduring relationships.
