The San Francisco Bay Area, which includes Oakland and San Jose, is a vibrant, densely populated, high-income region that serves as the high-technology industry’s global capital. With a population of more than 7 million, it is the nation’s fifth-largest metropolitan area. As such, it is an engine of consumption and an industrial property power center.
The region has a large concentration of some of the most innovative growth companies in industries that include software, social media, technology and life sciences and hosts more than two dozen members of the Fortune 500. Home to the five California counties with the highest per capita income, the region boasts a median household income 59 percent higher than the rest of the U.S.
The region has been a proving ground for influential logistics real estate innovations such as e-commerce, industrial infill development and supply chain restructuring. With several major airports, the Port of Oakland (the fifth-busiest container cargo facility in the U.S.) and multiple highways and freight lines, the region is a hub for distribution.
Prologis has a large presence in the San Francisco Bay Area with industrial warehouses and properties in a variety of sizes across a range of submarkets, ranging from a warehouse in San Francisco to large industrial parks in Silicon Valley.
