Goncalves is one of the most important graphics companies in Latin America. The Brazilian business began operations in Mexico in 2008 to manufacture packaging for consumer goods, focused principally on the pharmaceutical, cosmetics, personal hygiene, food and electronic sectors. It rented its first building in Prologis Park Agave (5) of approximately 110,868 square feet and later added 43,000 square feet. Mexico is the company’s most important market outside of Brazil.
BTS Supports Business Consolidation and Expansion
In 2017, Goncalves signed a 15-year lease agreement for Prologis to build a new BTS facility in Park Grande, Mexico City, to consolidate and expand the company’s four production lines. The facility also enables the company to consolidate its corporate offices and ensures additional space for future growth.
The Park Grande facility has an ideal location just off Highway 57, the so-called NAFTA highway. The park is set in a growing industrial area in the Tepotzotlán municipality. Goncalves is expected to make a total investment of US$27 million this year in the new facility as part of its mission to maintain leadership in the Latin American industrial graphics sector.
LEED Gold Certification, Advanced Features and Help with the Move
The building achieved LEED Gold certification and features early suppression fast response sprinklers, office space, 10 dock doors, two ramps, 4 percent natural light, three air changes per hour and special rooms for materials. Prologis developed a customized delivery program over a 10-month period to dismantle the client’s prior production lines in the Prologis Agave (5) building and reinstall them in the new Park Grande building without missing a single day of operations.
