Philip L. Hawkins Former Chief Executive Officer, DCT Industrial Trust Inc.
Mr. Hawkins was the President and Chief Executive Officer of DCT Industrial Trust Inc. (“DCT”) from 2006-2018. DCT was a leading industrial real estate company acquired by Prologis in August of 2018. Mr. Hawkins was the President, Chief Operating Officer and a director of CarrAmerica Realty Corporation, where he had been employed from 1996 until July 2006. CarrAmerica was a public REIT focused on the acquisition, development, ownership and operation of office properties in select markets across the United States and was acquired by a fund managed by The Blackstone Group in July 2006. Prior to joining CarrAmerica, Mr. Hawkins spent approximately 13 years with LaSalle Partners (now Jones Lang LaSalle), a real estate services company where he was a director and held various positions involving real estate investment, development, leasing and management. Mr. Hawkins serves as a director of Corporate Office Properties Trust, a publicly traded office REIT that focuses primarily on serving the specialized requirements of U.S. government agencies and defense contractors.
Mr. Hawkins is a member of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT) serving on its Board of Governors and is a trustee of Hamilton College. He holds an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hamilton College.
Mr. Hawkins serves on the executive committee of the board and is an independent director.
