How to Succeed in Industrial Real Estate, a Profile of Prologis West Region President Kim Snyder
Kim Snyder President, West Region
Cerritos, United States
Kim Snyder is president of Prologis’ West Region. Snyder, with 30 years in industrial real estate, is responsible for all Prologis Western regional activities, including development, acquisitions and operations. Key markets in this region are the Inland Empire, Los Angeles, Seattle and the San Francisco Bay Area.
After graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science from Arizona State University, Snyder worked in commercial banking before earning his MBA in real estate from Harvard Business School. Snyder served as president of Paragon Capital Corporation, overseeing land development, construction, property management and investment management from 1998 to 2005.
With comprehensive experience in all facets of real estate, including development and construction, acquisitions and dispositions, leasing, marketing and finance, Snyder joined AMB, Prologis’ predecessor, in 2005. As managing director for AMB, he was responsible for AMB’s airport group, plus operations for Brazil and Mexico.
Snyder is on the advisory board for the NAIOP-Inland Empire Chapter, where he is past-president. He is also on the technical committee and advisory board of FIBRA Prologis (Mexico), based in Mexico City. Snyder serves as trustee of the Gooden School, as a member of the industry advisory board at the Drucker School at Claremont Graduate University and was recently appointed vice chair and executive committee member on NAIOP’s national board of directors.
In talking to Snyder, his deep knowledge of the Western U.S. and of industrial real estate is palpable. This expertise, coupled with a quick wit and a perfect radio voice, make him a popular speaker at industry events. In fact, Snyder has several executive producer credits for motion pictures made earlier in his career. When he does get time to himself, he can be found playing golf, tennis or the guitar—his greatest passion. For his last birthday, the Cerritos, California, office surprised Snyder with a custom-made cigar box resonator slide guitar, which he adores.
Snyder is married with four children. He’s also earned his blackbelt in in jujitsu, which he says proved useful during his kids’ teenage years.
