Prologis recognizes that lighting is by far the largest electrical load in our facilities, consuming potentially up to 70% of a warehouse's electricity. Therefore, one of our greatest opportunities to reduce the environmental impact of our warehouses is by installing high-efficiency lighting.
In a retrofit, metal halide lighting systems are being replaced with new T5 and T8 fluorescent lights, often coupled with photoelectric cells or motion sensors. Such a retrofit can cut lighting electricity use by as much as 50 percent. In addition, they can enable customers to leverage cash rebates and other incentives offered by local utilities.
