Even though the U.S. is back to where it was pre-crisis, he indicates, that there is still room left to grow given the additional 12 million residents. He also touched upon the main drivers of our business in Europe and Asia – supply chain reconfigurations and the consolidation of warehouse operations.

Global Demand for Logistics Real Estate

CNBC London, 5 May 2012

During a recent trip to visit the company’s operations sites in Europe, Hamid Moghadam, chairman and co-CEO, on May 15 appeared on CNBC from the television station’s London studio.

He discussed demand for logistics real estate in Europe and specifically in the UK. “Last quarter in Europe we had increases in rents and occupancies, which was a surprise to most people,” he said. Hamid went on to say that the UK today appears to be in the position that the U.S. was in 24 months ago, which he thinks is good “to the extent that the U.S. has now come out of this [the economic crisis].” 

In summary, Hamid said, “The U.S. is going to be our biggest opportunity [in 2012], we have a great business in Japan and our European business is going to surprise people.”
